Synopsis of chapter 23

Sadhbh and Cormac go to see the king. She goes in alone. The king's palace and people are very fine looking. There's a man seated next to the king with long grey hair and a beard. Sadhbh approaches the king - and attachs the grey haired man! she rips at his beard like she had done to fear an bhramaigh! The hair and beard come off, and he turns out to be Síogaí!! They take him away.

Sadhbh tells the king the whole story, and how much cormac had done. they bring him in to meet the king. Cormac also identifies Síogaí, and tells how Séadna knew who he was and gave away his game. He says other good things about Séadna.

The tinker finishes this story. The king gave Sadhbh double her money, and jewels, and the king said everyone who was swindled would get their money back (they found the money). The king orders that Síogaí's house should be cleaned and given to Sadhbh and her father.

The next day it was heard that Sadhbh and Cormac were to get married, and live in the big house together.

Diarmaid is invited to live there, too, but would rather stay where he's at home now.
