There are 7 syllables in each line and the last syllable of each line consists of a whole word. There is Comhardach or rhyme between the last word of b (úir) and the last word of d (lúidh) Remember: "r" rhymes with "dh".There is aicill between ród and óg and there is amas between bhflaith and bhaithe.There is Uaim between chonnaic and chuige ; and between léim and luidh; and there is Uaim Súl between Fionn and bhflaith The úrú does not change Uaim Súl.
2. An Rannaiocct Bheag: The rules are the same as for Rannaíocht Mhór but it is annotated like this:(7² + 7² ) because the last word of each line is made up of two syllables.

3. An Rannaíocht Gharid: Like Rannaíocht Mhor except the first line of each stanza has only three syllables. (3¹ + 7¹ ) (71 + 7¹)

5. Deibhí This was the preferred meter of the professional poets and the most used. There is Comhardach between the last accented vowel in a and the last unaccented vowel in b. , It is the same with lines c and d. It is notated (7(x)+7(x+¹)
